I am getting ready to teach a NEW Mural Class for Adults at 3 local Recreation Centers in the Winter of 2012:

"Building Community by Painting Murals"

Making murals is so fun, and I am excited to share this class! Together, we'll decide on a theme, create individual drawings, then a composite image, and finally a completed portable mural to be installed in our community (ideas of locations are welcomed). Class runs six, 2-hour sessions. No art experience necessary.

Mailbox Mural Art

Check out the mailbox murals I've done, these are very fun and not only personalize your mailbox, but can be used as landmarks to find your house! http://www.ellensilva.com/dkmailbox.html

Ellen Silva collaborates with Portland recording artist Tasha Harmon

A new CD out called "Opening" by the band Kendalin, includes a song called "Still" which I co-wrote with one of the band's members, Tasha Harmon. Says Tasha: "A 'tiny little song on a tiny little subject' written in 45 minutes as a songwriting assignment at the Puget Sound Guitar Workshop; the best songwriting prompt Tasha’s ever gotten." Give it a listen on cd baby.com: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/kendalin.

M"Earthtones CD soon to be released!

I have been singing alto with the M'Earthtones now for 6 years, and we are about to release our first CD of eclectic (to say the least!) a capela music, led by the brilliant director, Kris Yenney, who also provides cello on some tracks. Stay tuned for news of the CD release concert later this spring! More info: www.mearthtones.com.

Artist of the Month

I have been named Artist of the Month for January February 2011, by the Peninsula Arts Council, a San Mateo county based arts organization (www.peninsulaartscouncil.org)
